Dr. Manny Wallace Comisar Manny Wallace Comisar's life journey peacefully concluded on January 11, 2024 at the age of 94. Born on January 10, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio he was the beloved son of the late Simon and Fay Rita (Kuhr) Comisar. Despite humble beginnings and early hardships, Manny’s determination shined bright. He married his high school sweetheart Lois Jane Stoll and dedicated himself not only to their relationship but also to his optometry practice. He was a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry and found his passion and life's work in optometry which he practiced until he was 82 years of age. Together, Manny and Lois ventured into entrepreneurship and started a thriving optometry practice in Loveland, Ohio. Their tireless dedication fueled its expansion, creating a network of offices in Loveland, Kenwood/Blue Ash, Morrow, and Mount Orab. Manny's fervor for optometry was infectious, his commitment unwavering. A true luminary in his field, he endeavored to enhance people's vision while evolving with the industry. His pursuit of additional certifications and extensive service to optometric organizations epitomized his dedication. Their venture wasn’t just a practice, it was the foundation of a lasting legacy. He was a lifelong member of the American Optometric Association and also a founding member of Diversified Opthalmics, Inc. His compassion extended far beyond the walls of his offices and his words of kindness left a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. Manny, an unselfish, loyal, and generous man of unwavering faith, found solace within Temple Sholom and later Adath Israel. His magnetic presence marked by an infectious laugh and sharp wit brought immense joy to all. He was a life-long jokester who told jokes until the end. His generosity, humor, and passion for reading, crossword puzzles, sports, the arts, and travel endeared him to many. Beyond his professional sphere, Manny was a dedicated father of 4 and grandfather of 9. He was the bedrock of his family instilling values of hard work, diligence, integrity, and always prioritized his family. He was a devoted caregiver to his elderly mother-in-law Fae Stoll after his wife’s passing. His legacy thrives through his children and grandchildren, each carving successful paths across diverse fields, a testament to the values he imparted. Manny and Lois celebrated their 50th anniversary embraced by their friends and loved ones before her passing in 2002—a loss deeply felt by Manny and his family. He is survived by his children Karen (John) Prescott, Robin (Randall) Maceyko, Scott (Melissa) Comisar, and Marc (Kristin) Comisar, and his grandchildren Emily, Ryan, Ashley, Brandon, Jake, Avery, Joshua, Leah and Maya and his brother Steve (Becky) Comisar, and numerous nieces and nephews. Manny was preceded in death by his parents Simon and Fay Comisar, his beloved wife Lois Comisar, his brother Robert Comisar, and his in-laws Jack and Fae Stoll. The family welcomes all who wish to pay their respects during the shiva at Adath Israel Synagogue, 3201 E. Galbraith Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45236, on Thursday January 18, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. to honor the legacy of a remarkable man. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
