Michael Bernard Hesse

Michael Bernard Hesse, 72, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 in Altamonte Springs, Florida at Hospice of the Comforter. Michael was born September 24, 1942. His parents were Melvin and Hilda Marcus Hesse of Cincinnati, Ohio. Michael attended Woodward High School, received his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Cincinnati, his Masters Degree at American University, and his PHD at the University of Wisconsin. Michael had an illustrious career in the world of communications, first as a news anchor in Dayton, Ohio, and then a long and rewarding career as a professor in Communications at the University of Alabama, the University of South Alabama, and finally at Eastern Kentucky University where he retired and was named Professor Emeritus. Michael leaves behind his wife, Anne Mayer Hesse, his daughter, Heidi Hesse Bodin and son in law, Vincent Bodin, his son, Michael J. Hesse and his daughter in law, Katie, and five wonderful grandchildren: Nicholas, Annabelle, Benjamin, Fletcher, and Oliver. He also leaves his best furry buddy,Ozzie, and a multitude of friends and appreciative students. There will be a memorial service for Mike in the library of Cedar Village on Monday, November 24, from 7-9 pm.
