Cincinnati lost a fine lady with many talents and a great heart in philanthropist, Linda (nee Aloe) Abrahamson, who passed away at home peacefully at age 77, on her birthday, Monday, May 11. Linda-- grand-daughter of Charles and Lillian Seasongood Adler, a prominent Cincinnati family, and beloved wife of local Ophthalmologist, Ira Abrahamson, M.D. for 55 years-- leaves a significant legacy. Loving mother of Richard Abrahamson, M.D. (Mendy), Thomas Abrahamson (Jennifer) and Susan Routh (Jeff). Devoted grandmother of Mick and Kady Abrahamson, Hannah, Emma and Noah Abrahamson, and Max and Caroline Routh.Loving sister of Nancy (Aloe) Koodish. Preceded in death by her parents, I.D.“Skinny” and Emma Margaret Goldman. Linda was born in St. Louis and moved to Cincinnati as a child and graduated from Walnut Hills High School. She attended the University of Colorado and graduated from The Washington University Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Science degree. In her early professional years, she taught speech and language in private and parochial schools, as well as in her home, for over 20 years. In addition to enjoying world travel and cooking fine food, Linda was an avid and outstanding golfer, being a 2-time Ladies Club Champion at Losantiville Country Club and a fierce local tournament competitor. Linda also was one of the area’s top bridge players, having achieved the recognition as Silver Life Master. Linda was a past board member of The Jewish Hospital Auxiliary, a member of The Rockdale Temple Sisterhood and The Council of Jewish Women, and a volunteer for over 30 years at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. In addition, she and her family have been major financial supporters of The Cincinnati Art Museum, The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, The Cincinnati Zoo, and Ronald McDonald House of Greater Cincinnati. Linda has stated- “it is both gratifying and fulfilling to me to help others in need by volunteering and contributing my services.”Memorial services Weil Funeral Home, 8350 Cornell Road, Cinti, OH 45249 on Monday, May 18, 11:00 A.M. Visitation begins at 10:00 A.M. Friends may call on the family Monday evening 5:30-8:30 P.M. at the residence of Dr. Richard & Mendy Abrahamson.
